![]() An IndroductionI am a recent arts graduate from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) with major in Sociology and a minor in Law and Society. Though I appreciate the knowledge which I have gained from this degree I have come to realize that my real passion is photography, and have decided to pursue that next. I will be entering into my first year of a photography program offered by the NB Collage of Craft and Design (NBCCD) in Fredericton, NB come September 2012.
My love for photography started in Jr. High when I was given the opportunity to work in a darkroom for one of the courses offered at my school. It was at that point in which I got my own camera and started to snap photos of everything, though admittedly, not the best photos. This further grew when I entered High school and begin to go to local music concerts and started to take photos of live bands. In my grade 11 and 12 years of High school I was, again though courses, given then opportunity to once again work in a dark room instructing other students how to both take photos and develop them using traditional darkroom techniques. It was, however, during my third year at MUN that really pushed me into my passion. I was hired by the student newspaper, The Muse, as Senior Photographer and purchased my first DSLR. Since then I have been working and teaching myself photography though free online resources. In February I was accepted into the photography program at NBCCD and I can not wait to get started and to learn more about my passion. |
