Quick notes on Copyright and Copyright infringment:
- Fair Dealing, refers to the use of another's work for the purpose of; private study or research and criticism, review, or news reporting (though these do require to give the source and name of copyright owner).
- Copyright infringement is a criminal offence! It is punishable as an indictable offence, and can lead to fines up to $1 million, and a maximum of 5 years in prison.
- A copyright in inherited when an original work is created, and is automatically protected.
- A copyright does not only apply in Canada (or in whatever country the creator is a resident in) rather it is internationally bound.
